Troubleshooting
If something isn’t working the way you expect, a few quick checks can usually resolve the issue. This guide walks through the most common problems and how to fix them.
Why Am I Not Receiving Notifications?
If you expected a notification but didn’t receive one, check both your Espa notification settings and your device notification settings.
Step 1: Check notification settings in Espa
Notifications are globally managed inside the web app within Settings. To check if they are enabled, follow these steps:
- Open Settings
- Select Notifications
- Make sure Enable Notification is toggled ON and select the category of notification you'd like to receive.
Step 2: Check notification memories in Espa
Notifications are tailored to you in Espa, meaning you may set individual preferences and permissions to craft how and when you receive your notifications. If you've given Espa specific rules on delivering notifications, those rules will be stored in Memories.
Make sure your Memories reflect your current notification preferences.
- Open Memories
- Select any memory with Notifications in the title
- Review the memory to ensure your any personal preferences for receiving notifications is reflected.
Step 3: Check your device notification permissions
Even if notifications are enabled in Espa, your device may block them.
Check that notifications are allowed for the Espa app in your:
• Computer or phone notification settings
• Browser notification permissions
Once enabled, notifications should begin appearing normally.
Why Hasn’t Espa Responded to a Task I Asked For?
Some requests take a little time while Espa gathers information or processes context.
If Espa hasn’t replied yet, try the following:
Ask Espa for a progress update
You can ask things like:
• “What’s the status of the task I asked for?”
• “How long will this take?”
• “What are you working on right now?”
Espa can often tell you what step it’s currently working on.
Ask for an estimated completion time
For example:
• “Can you give me an ETA on this?”
This helps you understand whether the request is still processing or if it needs clarification.
Ask for partial results
If the information is time-sensitive, you can ask for what Espa has collected so far.
Example:
• “Show me what you’ve found so far.”
Espa can often share intermediate results while continuing to work on the full request.
Clarify the request if needed
If a request is complex or ambiguous, providing a little more detail can help.
For example:
• “Focus on the last email from Alex.”
• “Just summarize the document instead of the entire thread.”
If the request is time-sensitive and Espa is still working you can ask it to show you the results it has "right now".
Still Having Trouble?
If the steps above don’t solve the issue, our support team can help.
You can:
• Contact support at help@espa.ai
When reporting a problem, it’s helpful to include:
• What you asked Espa to do
• What happened instead
• Any screenshots or error messages
This helps our team diagnose and resolve the issue faster.
Tip:
Most issues are resolved by restarting the app or checking notification settings, so those are great places to start.
